Well, this is something of a problem. Was this Itachi irreplacable, dome Madara? It might be wise of us, as a group, to have a drill in place for such occurence, especially with no telling what may happen if he returns.
It is highly possible that Itachi was more valuable to the ninjas of Konoha than those of Akatsuki. The concern that was shown in regards to his disappearance, and the items that remained, implied a far stronger connection to those of Unohana than those of Madara.
His ring to Alphonse, sake to Unohana... Did any of the Akatsuki receive anything?
Mm... the concern is to be expected , men are well capable of loving what every sense tells them not to. But the ring... I'll tell you this, Carmen. This Itachi, either he was a fantastically clever man, or he was a fragile thing not worth the bother. I cannot see a middle ground.
That is indeed true. I am aware of how such things can linger. I do not see a middle ground either. I would, myself, lean towards the former.
Note how, upon Madara's arrival, those he had been closer too suddenly were distant. There was clear seperation. That would only come from understanding and respect. If they did not think him more useful in an alternate capacity, they would not have distanced themselves so cleanly and quickly.
Itachi slaughtered his kin. This I have from Obito. But those of the Hyuuga household, the ninjas of Kakashi's world along with some of the Shinigami, did not treat him with disdain, hatred, or fear.
Did he? Mm, perhaps his kin were less than savory folk. But it lines up... yes, it does that very well...
If so, then perhaps Madara does not realize it yet, but Itachi has broken him. He's a finished man. Few in the city are as well-loved as the boy Alphonse, he has no shortage of those who would fight and die to protect him - if Madara presses his claim. And if he does not, then he admits not just defeat, but dreadful weakness. He is already too late to feign disinterest. It's a lovely ploy, granted that Madara's destruction was indeed Itachi's end... and that he was willing to sacrifice the boy for that end.
There are two ways that I can see for Madara to somehow survive this. The question is, do you wish for Alphonse to live.
It is perhaps a pity for Madara that he does not cultivate new members for his team. His men arrived after him and could not give him such information. This appears to be his first attempt at recruitment, and Alphonse will not provide him with the information on what occurred before Madara's arrival.
Itachi was certainly clever, but I have no idea what his end goal was. Nor do I know how close his connection to Alphonse was. I cannot dig too deeply into that without seeming interested in the Akatsuki, and such a thing would not serve me.
It matters not to me. That is, once the kittens are able to part from their mother. He must live that long, at least. Obito would enjoy another, Kakashi does not want him to have it. Another small wedge between the two, more so if Kakashi puts his foot down against Obito receiving the kitten.
Would you call this recruitment? I'm not sure, myself, if his interest is in the boy for his own sake, or because of the pain that he sees this claim causing his enemies. How powerful is domeino Alphonse, percisely?
Well - you needn't dirty your hands in this, you're very right that you are best keeping aloof. But as for me... this situation has some appeal. By your leave I'll pursue an end to it that claims no lives.
... hah. I like how you think, have I ever said as much? Even kittens make good weapons in clever hands...
I do not have another word for it, recruitment or otherwise. Alphonse was able to create the body that could possibly have fooled you if you were unwarned. He is called an alchemist, but I do not know the extent of his skills. The one who was here for only a short time, Armstrong, transformed one of the larger robots, did he not?
