36th step: Triumph

Hah. And I had feared that things had blown over.

Are you at last happy, you Shinigami, now that more blood's been spilled? And you men of Konoha? I suppose it doesn't matter. You've done nothing to stop this, and won't be doing anything different in the future, I wager.

And that's true for all you madmen of this city, make no mistake. None of you are safe. Take care who you look up to as your healers and guardians.

My regards to your brother, dome Izuna. Sometimes it seems a shame that we must be enemies.

This has gone well, and better than well... but it will take a subtler hand than mine, now, and one less known, to truly make the notch in doma Unohana's reputation. In case you desire the pleasure.

[Zuko narrows his eyes. Saul has a point. >:( Annoyingly enough. This still doesn't shake off his initial annoyance and he continues on.]

Sitting around and pointing fingers after the fact isn't going to do a damn amount of good. It's just going to cause more fighting and violence.

There was a girl that was almost killed. Your concern should be directed towards her.

[Of course he has a point, he's terribly clever. Which is why you should not listen to him. Alas, too late...]

There will be enough who are concerned with her, you will see. There will entirely not be enough who dare point out that there are more to blame here than the men who did the fighting.

Is that your role in this? To hold people accountable?

[Zuko didn't trust this man as far as he could throw him.]

An unpleasant role, to be sure. But someone must.

[He is not pretending to goodness here, he knows better, even with a newcomer. But not only good men can play good devil's advocates.]
