4th Step: On with the plan

You fools, why didn't you tell me that the alchemist boy was next in line? I could have finished it cleanly and no one would've been the wiser. What will you do if he makes it out?

If you think you cannot rely on me, the deal is off. I'll find my own way home.

You'll excuse me if I don't provide any more information, of course. But I appreciate the open-mindedness.

The boy is Alphonse Elric - you likely know of him, he is rather well-loved around here.

It does not bother me; the matter concerns me not, after all.

Ah, the brother of the short one that wears the coat. Yes, I do know of him. I was not aware of the fact that he turns lead into gold, though.

[identity profile] favorthebold.livejournal.com 2009-01-02 04:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know that he does, only that he apparently deals with alchemy. Which is of course nonsense, but who am I to tell him that, considering that I still pray to the sun?

[identity profile] vile-queen.livejournal.com 2009-01-02 04:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I thought that's what alchemy was. But of course. One who has beliefs should think before criticizing those of others, else holes be found in what they follow.

Though with what I have seen in this place, may impossibilities may well be possible.

I'm willing to believe anything that I see with my own eyes, and half the things I hear tales about. He might have some unique ability or other and call it alchemy. In rural Betairun, some people still call Guardians witches.

[identity profile] vile-queen.livejournal.com 2009-01-02 05:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Mm. But is it belief if you see it with your own eyes? It requires no faith.

And what is a Guardian?

[identity profile] favorthebold.livejournal.com 2009-01-02 05:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Hah. My only 'faith' is in Mithras and Fortuna. For everything else it's a useless word.

A Guardian is a warrior who is bound to a country, and has some ability to act on this bond.

[identity profile] vile-queen.livejournal.com 2009-01-02 05:09 pm (UTC)(link)
This is fair enough.

And are you a Guardian?

[identity profile] vile-queen.livejournal.com 2009-01-03 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
Fascinating. And of what country?

[identity profile] favorthebold.livejournal.com 2009-01-03 09:36 am (UTC)(link)
None. My homeland is divided, and I am a law onto myself.

[identity profile] vile-queen.livejournal.com 2009-01-03 09:52 am (UTC)(link)
So, then, of whom are you a Guardian?

[identity profile] favorthebold.livejournal.com 2009-01-03 09:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Of whomever has enlisted me. I've fought with the army of every country in Eloa in my days, but none of them are my country. The fighting's the only purpose of it.

So you operate as a gun for hire?

What determines what jobs you will take and who you will work for?

[identity profile] favorthebold.livejournal.com 2009-01-05 09:01 am (UTC)(link)
I take any job that has some challenge to it, never mind who offers.

[identity profile] vile-queen.livejournal.com 2009-01-05 02:34 pm (UTC)(link)
So it is a challenge you seek?

What do you think of the Animus and our current community leaders?

[[Private//Mostly unhackable to Carmen]]

[identity profile] favorthebold.livejournal.com 2009-01-06 04:09 pm (UTC)(link)
It is challenges I live for. Fortune favors the bold; no one ever succeeds who walks an easy path.

Those are difficult questions, doma. The spirits of this land have every right to do as they please, and I won't be the man to defy them. But community leaders... do we have them, really?

Life does become boring when things are easy.

You have every right to stop answering should you so desire, should the questions be too difficult. Some stand out more than others, but there is no one who has quite taken charge yet.
